Join the crew of Scallywags for a fun family adventure. Your adventure begins with dressing as a pirate, hoisting the colors, tattoo and face painting. Once underway, our pirate crew will teach you how to talk, sing and dance like a pirate. They will share the tales of Lake Erie and explain how the evil pirate Peg Legged Pete stole a chest of this fortune. The crew of Scallywags has been searching for Peg Legged Pete to reclaim the lost booty. If you are prepared, we can find him and get the treasure back on board. All guest pirates aboard “Scallywags” that assist with capturing the treasure will share in the booty, so keep your eyes open and be on the lookout for enemy pirates.

Scallywags’ 16 water cannons are ready to fire when we enter battle during our journey. We will explore a couple of pirate hangouts, along the way, so be prepared! All crew and pirates should stand ready for battle.  Prepare yourselves for thrills, music, and treasure Aarrgghh.

What to Bring

  • As with any outdoor activity, you should bring your sunscreen
  • A camera to take some great pictures
  • A hat and sunglasses
  • Sweatshirt or Light Jacket, lake winds can be chilly!
  • Motion Sickness Pills (take before boarding)

$6.00 per person (MEMBERS/NON-MEMBERS for on-site registration)

Lunch will be catered:
  • Hot Dogs/buns
  • Ox Roast/rolls

  • Toss Salad
  • Pasta Salad
  • Cookies/Cake
  • Gluten/Dairy Free Cookies/Cupcakes
ACTIVITIES: swimming, fishing, playground, splash pad, basketball….and more! There is also beach access for Lake Erie from Camp Sherwin…although no swim is permitted.

Harrington Hall has been reserved for this event in order to provide everyone a place to get cool. LUNCH WILL BE SERVED INSIDE

Friends & Pals Teen Club | Teens will have their own area outside Harrington Hall. Corn Hole, Life size Jenga, playing cards will be provided.  Please bring camping chairs or beach chairs for the teen game area.

PLEASE NOTE: Harrington Hall will be available from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Families are welcome to stay until Camp Sherwin closes to utilize the pool.

Have you heard of Variety the Children's Charity?

Variety - the Children's Charity provides children with disabilities unique programs, experiences, and equipment, so they may live life to the fullest and not be left out, left behind, or excluded.

Three Programs are available:

1.  My Bike - provides eligible children with disabilities with a Rifton adaptive bicycle (with Rifton accessories) that is individually customized, so they may have the freedom of a  bike and the joy of riding alongside friends and family. Autism Society NWPA depends 100% on volunteers to create, plan, organize and run our monthly family outings, Friends & Pals Teen Club, LEGO  Social Club, Autism in Our Community Event - conference, Annual Walk for Autism, fundraising events and office support.  Have you been thinking about volunteering?  Join us - many hands make light work!

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Thank you for taking the first step to volunteer! This is a three day event and we will need your help to get it "off the ground."  We will need helpers to assemble kits for the festival, registration help, merchandise sales, Lantern pick-up and Trash pick-up.  We need volunteers for 5-hour shifts.  Safety precautions are taken very seriously and will be put into practice by the local fire departments.  All clean up and safety regulations will be in place by all our volunteers. The lanterns are exclusively sourced, 100% biodegradable, flame retardant with a limited burn time of less than 4 minutes.  They leave a very small footprint on the environment.  This will be a safe and spectacular event for families in our community.

Managing Frustration and Anxiety and Teaching Social Skills

Jed Baker, Ph.D. is the director of the Social Skills Training Project, a private organization serving individuals with autism and social communication problems.  He is on the professional advisory board of Autism Today, ASPEN, ANSER, YAI, the Kelberman Center and several other autism organizations.  In additional, he writes, lectures, and provides  training internationally on the topic of social skills training and managing challenging behaviors. He is an award winning author of nine books spanning a wide range of topics related to autism, including Overcoming Anxiety in Children and Teens. His work has also been featured on ABC World News, Nightline, the CBS Early Show, and the Discovery Health Channel.
